Description
Hike the Minett Trail from the cultural center "Beim Nëssert" in Bergem to the train station in Bettembourg and through the rural Minett region
The Minett Trail is a 90-kilometer long hiking trail that runs across the Minett region. In ten stages, you can experience smaller and larger towns as well as eight nature reserves. These impress with old forests and former open-cast mining areas. With the steep rock faces, the red earth, and mine entrances, they are unique in Luxembourg.
On this section, you hike through the nature reserve "Beetebuerger Bësch" and further through the rural south of Luxembourg between Bergem and its cultural center "Beim Nëssert" and the train station of Bettembourg. Although you won't find the characteristic red earth of the region on the way, you will find plenty of nature — at a short distance from the capital. For example, in "Beetebuerger Bësch," you will find several small ponds that make the area very varied. The course of the Minett Trail also takes you through many small picturesque villages in the countryside, providing a good contrast to the otherwise rather densely populated south of Luxembourg outside the nature reserves.
Please note: Due to ongoing work around the paths of the Minett Trail near Bettembourg, a trail section has been closed and rerouted. The new route is also newly signposted.
