The monument, the construction of which was completed in 1957, commemorates the mining victims and honors the miners to whom the country owed its wealth at the beginning of the 20th century. Since 1978 it has been the national monument to all miners, with name plaques remembering the miners that perished

Established as a non-profit association, the FerroForum space is located in the central workshop of the former Arbed Esch-Schifflange ironworks.
