Escher Déierepark - Animal Park
Where? 64, Gaalgebierg, L-4142 Esch-sur-Alzette
A real paradise for nature lovers, just a short trip from city centre
If you want to leave behind the hustle and bustle of the city then take a short walk over the Passerelle (the elegant white steel bridge next to the rail station) and in a few minutes you are in the middle of the vast Gaalgebierg urban forest. At the centre of it, animal lovers of all ages will be delighted to discover a five-acre enclosure where deer, goats, and rabbits share their life with other animals of more than 25 species. The Animal Park (Déierepark) is free and open all the time, but if you want to get really up close to feed and pet the animals, you can take a guided tour, or go to the Petting Zoo on Tuesday afternoons.
The Park also has an educational farm where you can meet a lovely old breed of horses, and much more! For small visitors there are two playgrounds and when you feel tired or in need of refreshment, the Bamhauscafé is ready to welcome you.
