Description
The graffiti art of the city of Esch-sur-Alzette
In 2014, the Kulturfabrik in Esch-sur-Alzette launched the project "Kufa's Urban Art." A project with a very artistic and educational background. The idea was to sustainably change the urban image. Several different artists from many countries brought their ideas and artworks.
The Kulturfabrik is a cultural center in the heart of the Greater Region, in the south of Luxembourg, in Esch-sur-Alzette, in the buildings of the former municipal slaughterhouse. On 4500m2 there are two performance halls, a gallery, a cinema, a brasserie, a bistro, and several rehearsal rooms. The Kulturfabrik is a committed meeting place open to the public, artists, and associations. Its program is versatile: concerts, festivals, theater, cinema, educational projects, literature, artist residencies...
The Kulturfabrik is a non-profit association (ASBL). It is supported by the Luxembourg Ministry of Culture and the city of Esch-sur-Alzette.
The project was launched in 2014, with "Kufa's Urban Art Esch" having come a long way. After more than 80 works scattered in 10 cities in Luxembourg and the Grande Région, the project was discontinued in 2021. The project offered an extensive program: artistic interventions by national and international artists, conferences, participatory and integrative projects, encounters, and guided tours...
