Europe’s first multi-experience destination

This life-size reconstruction takes you back to the days of the Second World War when a group of young Luxembourgers hid in a mine to escape the obligation to serve in the German army and wear the Nazi uniform.

The museum area comprises a total of nine rooms, in which exhibits provide insights into living and working conditions at the end of the 19th century, industrial past of the region and the history of the commune during the Second World War.

The good old days…

The Nazi invasion of Luxembourg began on 10th May 1940. The government chose to go into exile, moving to London and the US. This commitment to the allied cause was central to Luxembourg maintaining international recognition for its independence after the war.

An intimate atmosphere at the Aalt Stadhaus cultural centre

This regional museum focuses on the complex history of forced recruitment during the Nazi occupation of Luxembourg and provides a poignant insight into the suffering of the Dudelange population during the war.
