Art & Culture

Cultural influences of the melting pot

The region in the south of Luxembourg has been strongly marked by the industrial culture but has managed to give itself a new identity over time, where the industrial past and new technologies melt to form a unique mixture.

Escher Theater
Standing right on one corner of Resistance Square (also known as Brillplaz) in the heart of Esch, the Escher Theater is both a receiving and producing organisation. Each season, the theatre offers around 50 performances of theatre, dance and music – together with creative work which span all these disciplines. Here you can see productions from European theatres as well as from Luxembourg, but also work co-created with the local community. As Luxembourg stands at the crossroads of other countries, the venue asserts its cross-border and multicultural vocation through multilingual programming, primarily in French and German. Since 2018, plays for young audiences have been one of the main focuses of its programme.
