Cycle path de l'Attert (PC 12)

In the heart of the valley of the seven castles

Pedal along the Belgian-Luxembourg border and follow the old railway line—the route of the famous “Charly”—which will take you to the valley of the seven castles. Once you get there, you’ll bike by one stately noble residence after another. Let your mind wander in this dreamy pastoral setting. You can take a break around the Hollenfels Castle or in the extraordinary French gardens of the baroque Ansembourg Castle. A little further on, the ruins of Useldange Castle will take you back in time, and you’ll find yourself in the heart of an enchanting little village. Between castles, you’ll pedal along the lovely Attert river and even pass through a 700m tunnel dug into Luxembourg sandstone. The trail ends at the grand-ducal family residence in Colmar-Berg. And if you’d like to extend your journey, the cities of Diekirch and Ettelbruck, with their many shops and museums, will welcome you with open arms—your gateway to the Ardennes.
