Trail "De Kaweechelcherspad"

8157c7e1926841ae8c9c2e00b0a769a8

Description

Hikers on this trail will follow the path the northern and western slopes of the "Brucherbierg", to the south of Schifflange. The trails namesake squirrel will make you discover the forest, the edge of the woods as well as its wide variety of plants and animals. Signposts provide information about the forest and its inhabitants. On the upper slopes of the "Brucherbierg", visitors can find geological layers which are rich in iron ore (Dogger).

Many historical traces still show the exploitation of iron ore: terraces, rock faces and boulder. The flat heights and the plain of the Alzette are used for farming. Beech forms the majority of the tree species that grow in the natural forest of the Minett Region. Depending on the location and type of use of these forests, oak and hornbeam can also be found here.
